Whats going on here then?

So then, whats been happening here?

Obviously, it has been a while since I last posted anything on the site, almost exactly a year.

To be honest, what has been happening lately is that I've been incredibly busy doing other things. Not a great excuse I know, but thats the way it is.

I have restarted my degree, switching the focus to a Bachelor of Science rather than the Bachelor of Communications I was doing in Australia. Mostly because the Open University in the UK doesn't offer a B. Comms. but there are other reasons as well. I've always been more interested in computers than general news and I think if I was going to write professionally, I would be doing it about computers. So, it would make sense for me to have qualifications in that field really.

I've so far completed two courses at the OU and am most of the way through a third. The first was the most indescribably dull course I have ever punished myself with, titled "You and Your Money: Personal Finance in Perspective". I mainly did that one to get my head back in the same room as the idea of studying. It worked, but I can't say how many times I verbally hated the course.

Another one I finished was M255 Object Oriented Programming with Java, which was fantastic. Characteristically though, I got so interested in programming that I left the curriculum behind and went off on my own project, which is a bot which connects to www.betfair.com and makes bets for me according to criteria I specify. Seems to be working fairly well too. Not a millionaire yet, but it could happen, if I get more time to do some fine tuning of this thing.

The course I'm currently embroiled in is called T216, Cisco Certified Network Associate, which is also through the OU. The deal is, you do the ourse through the OU and if you pass, you can then go on and take the CCNA exam. If you pass it, you have a very good vendor specific qualification. Since it fits in with the degree, I snapped that up as soon as I saw it.

So you can see how I've been a little busy.
